Our Trail
We meet in Montys of Kathmandu in Eustace Street where Lina Gautam will greet you with a delicious cup of marsala tea, a typical breakfast drink in Nepal.

Lina will fill us in on the culture of food in Nepal and where the various influences come from. Less hot and spicy than Indian food and heavily influenced by Tibet, we will have the opportunity to taste a variety of dishes that will allow us to appreciate the subtleties of Nepalese food. Dishes range from the quick to prepare to the more complex and of course Lina's own favourites that she serves to her family at home.

Spices are a very important part of Nepalese food. Lina grinds her own spices. She will show us how she does it, and let us taste and smell the difference between her freshly ground spices and the spices we have lurking in our kitchens!

Then it is off shopping. As we are led around the Aisan market Lina shows us where to find the best ingredients, tells us why she chooses certain products over others and points out the best brands available.

Back at the restaurant we help finish off some of the dishes we began earlier, and the day finishes with Lina hosting a delicious meal that we have all helped prepare and served as she would serve it in her own home.

Lina was born and raised in Kathmandu where her family all live. She came to Ireland 12 years ago with her husband Shiva and together they set up Montys of Kathmandu in Eustace Street. They have consistently won awards for their delicious food over that time.

A cancellation fee of €50.00 will apply. Cancellations made less than 10 days prior to the Trail will forfeit the full fee.
